CDI Partners GIZ In Implementing “Support For Decentralization Reforms Project” – 22.02.2018

The Support for Decentralization Reforms Project (SfDR) is a technical cooperation between the Republic of Ghana, Federal Republic of Germany, USAID and Global Affairs Canada. SfDR works with local institutions and systems, and is being jointly implemented by GIZ and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. The programme engaged CSOs including Center for Development Initiatives (CDI) to roll out interventions centred on citizens’ participation and social accountability.

This project is in line with the National Development Planning Act, Act 480 which envisions the participation of citizens through the preparation of Local Action Plans (LAPs) by sub-District councils as well as communities in the Districts.

The SfDR project seeks to increase citizens’ participation in the planning processes. This thus involves the sensitization of citizens in the planning processes of MMDAs Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) preparation. Citizen’s knowledge of the content of the MTDP and how it affects their development is expected to increase for their active participation. CDI was thus tasked to sensitize citizens to participate in the MTDP processes.
